International Stroke Conference 2009

 

 

The International Stroke Conference provides unique opportunities to meet with colleagues from around the world with wide-ranging research interests and expertise in stroke prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. Last year’s professional attendance was the second highest in the conference’s history. This year, we anticipate more than 4,000 professional attendees, as well as exhibitors displaying new stroke products and services.

 

The program offers a pre-conference nursing symposium, invited symposia, debates, forums, oral abstract presentations and posters, as well as special lectures on recent advances and state-of-the-art technologies. While every year there are, exciting sessions in many different areas of specialty, new this year is the category of emergency medicine. In addition, in partnership with the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) the congress will have a new, abstract-based award for emergency medicine that is aimed at investigators of all levels.

 

The International Stroke Conference will feature special symposia onnumeroustopics, including mitochondria and cell death after brain ischemia; busting myths of ICH; deterioration after acute ischemic stroke; psychosocial distress in stroke survivors and caregivers: cross-cultural considerations; cardiac dysfunction in stroke; issues in unruptured aneurysms; controversies in subarachnoid hemorrhage management; incorporating the EMS and emergency department settings in acute stroke research; multimodality management of cerebral arteriovenous malformations; and the global issues of stroke.
